Monday, March 14, 2011

Physical Science 3-14-11

Motion quizzes were handed back and correct answers were discussed.  Also handed back was worksheet 3 Velocity and Acceleration.  This assignment was worth 10 points.  Students who did not do as well on this assignment as they had hoped can turn in corrections for partial credit no later than the end of the day Wednesday.

Assignment:  "RAFT" assignment.  See hand out for instructions.  The main idea is to use creativity to explain topics from the simple motion unit.  Within the RAFT there should be several examples that demonstrate understanding of the concepts from the motion unit.  Use notes for assistance!

March 14, 2011

First I would like you to know that I will be gone on Thursday and Friday. This week is the Annual Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers Convention. Mrs. Hoffman will be in for me on both days. I will post about what classes are doing on Thursday and Friday.

Physics: Today we talked about Energy, and how money can be used as an analogy for Energy. After talking about energy storage methods, we looked at how we can analyze a system using pie charts. I assigned WS 1 for tomorrow.

AP Chemistry: We are nearly done with CH 17, and will be so after tomorrow. Students are to complete the pre-lab for Experiment 13: Determination of the Equilibrium Constant for Wednesday's class. We will be having a morning study session on Wednesday morning for CH 17 homework. Also, the CH 17 quiz is on Friday.

March 8, 2011

Physics: Today we reviewed the idea of projectile motion. Tomorrow we will be taking the unit exam.

AP Chemistry: We reviewed the quiz from last week, and also discussed the Kinetics of a Reaction Lab. This lab is due on Monday. We will be having a work session on this lab, Thursday morning. We then began talking about Equilibrium from Chapter 17, 2011.

Chemistry: We reviewed for the unit exam. The unit exam will cover chemical change, Unit 6, and will be tomorrow.

Note: I was not here yesterday, and as such, there was no new work assigned yesterday. Also, in the event of a snow day tomorrow, the above mentioned tests will be held on Monday, March 14. Students may take them Thursday morning, but must have them completed prior to the Winter Carnival activities. If students take this option, they should plan to start their test at around 7 am. Again, that is their choice, I am not requesting that they take the test at that time. Taking the test early Thursday was requested by a few students who did not want there to be a big break between the review and the test.
