This week in Physical Science we are working on writing ratios to use as unit conversion factors. The process of learning how to use ratios has many applications throughout science, besides just converting units. In Chemistry the process, which can also be called dimensional analysis, is used in Stoichiometry, which allows us to make predictions about the outcome of chemical reactions. In physics, we often use the process in order to identify the relationship between variables in an experiment.
We will be working on this again tomorrow, and will likely have a quiz on this process on Thursday in class. As I stated to the students, it is the PROCESS not the ability to multiply or divide, that is being worked on here. So the setup and work is the most important part.

Today in class we watched an experiment from Mythbusters. Students were to then take notes and analyze the experiment, identifying the parts of the experiment and where they fit into the scientific method. We will discuss student findings tomorrow in class.

Last Post For The Year
Chemistry: We have been wrapping up the Colorimetry Experiment. Once we are done with that we will likely start getting ready for the Final Exam. Information about the exam will be discussed in class today.
Physical Science: We are finishing the building of the rockets today. We will be flying them on Tuesday, weather permitting. the Rocket Journals will be due on Wednesday June 1. This includes the conclusion essays about Newtons Laws and Energy of the rocket. That portion is 25% of the total grade.
Also Final Exam information will be given out today. Students are allowed to write notes on the Test Cover Page, which they will also receive. They are only allowed to write on the front page, and only below the page break.
