This week in Physical Science we are working on writing ratios to use as unit conversion factors. The process of learning how to use ratios has many applications throughout science, besides just converting units. In Chemistry the process, which can also be called dimensional analysis, is used in Stoichiometry, which allows us to make predictions about the outcome of chemical reactions. In physics, we often use the process in order to identify the relationship between variables in an experiment.
We will be working on this again tomorrow, and will likely have a quiz on this process on Thursday in class. As I stated to the students, it is the PROCESS not the ability to multiply or divide, that is being worked on here. So the setup and work is the most important part.
