Physical Science 2-7-11

Students watched an episode of Myth Busters pertaining to the idea that Archimedes was able to use mirrors to create a solar powered weapon capable of burning Roman ships. The design of this ancient weapon is thought to have focused light into a centralized point capable of producing temperatures high enough to ignite wood.  The effect of numerous flat mirrors mounted at angles that reflect light rays into one centralized point mimics the way light rays interact with concave mirrors. Homework for tomorrow is to bring back signed grade sheets.
