Physical Science: We took notes on how to use energy bar graphs to determine the energy changes of a system. I assigned WS#2 for tomorrow. Also, any one who has missing work must turn it in by tomorrow, or it will be counted as a zero for mid-term.
A blog where you can find out what we are doing in class, what homework is due, and odds and ends that might be interesting.

Spring Golf
In case you did not know, I am Shiocton's Golf Coach. Our season is going to be getting started next week, and as such I will miss a few days here and there for all day tournaments. This spring, because of my schedule, I will only miss about 5 days. On these days, Susan Hoffman will be subbing for me, as she has every Golf season for the last 3 years. If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail, as I will be able to get back in touch with you more quickly.

The following information is no joke. Sorry, but it is April Fool's Day.
Physics: today the students who were here worked on lab work. Monday we will be analyzing all of the data from the energy labs we did this week.
AP Chemistry: Students worked on the 2 labs that are due next Tuesday: Determination of Keq and Determination of Ka.
Chemistry: We whiteboarded problems from WS #4. We will finish that discussion on Monday. The Unit 7 Exam is set for next week Wednesday.
Physical Science: Due to the amount of misconception out there still about Newton's Laws of Motion, we took the hour to discuss them again, and relate it to some scenario's similar to the Balloon Racers. This should help them prepare for the Essay portion of that activity on Monday. Please remind your child to write up some notes, study, or even do a practice essay for Monday's class.

AP Chemistry
We are really crunched for time during 4th quarter. The AP Chemistry Exam is coming up a week earlier than last year, and with Spring Break coming up, the Exam is going to take place BEFORE mid-quarter. As such we will be following the outline below as we get ready for the Exam.
1. April 4-8: We will be discussing CH 20 on Thermodynamics. The homework for this chapter will be due on April 8. The Quiz will be given out on Friday, and collected on Monday.
2. April 11-15: We will be going on CH 21 on Electrochemistry. The homework for this chapter will be due on April 15. The Quiz for Chapter 21 will be collected after Spring Break.
3. For a Unit Exam score for these units: I will be taking the average of the three quizzes this quarter, and using that as the grade.
4. Spring Break: Students are to be reviewing from the 5 Steps to a 5 AP Review book I gave out at the beginning of the year.
5. April 25 to 29: we will be reviewing and working on questions from the 5 Steps review book.
6. Morning of May 2: This is test day. I will hold a review session that morning, time to be determined, so that students can get final questions in before they have to take the AP Exam.
7. After May 2, we will work on AP Labs that we did not get finished prior to the exam.
